Interesting Askville Questions:
I would like to find a portable storage drive. I need space for my photos, im looking for 120-360 GB memory. It needs to be REALLY REALLY easy to use. Click and drag or copy paste would be use full. I need it as a type of memory stick. Transferring from Mac to Windows on a daily basis. A glorified memory stick may be what I need. I have been looking at Western Digital My Passport Essential 250GB USB Portable External Hard Drive and LaCie Mobile Disk 160GB USB2.0 - 2.5 inch - Bus-powered . Does anyone have any ideas as im really stuck? Thank you in advance for any information you have.
I'm looking for a 250 GB external hard drive for my notebook computer. The computer never leaves home and I want it mainly to store digital music. I have an 80 GB IPOD and have over 11 GB of music on it and it is growing. I need something to store the music on because it is and is going to take up more of my HD space on the notebook. Also is it possible to sync the IPOD and download songs directly to the external HD?
I've got a new iPod, and now I need to load music on to it. I want to be able to store all my music on an external hard drive (no more than 320 GB) and sync my iPod to it. I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with 2 USB ports with (I believe) 500 mA per port. I've seen a lot of reviews saying that most external hard drives powered through the USB port require more than 500 mA to run, but that problem can be solved by using one of those cables that powers it using both USB ports. But if both USB ports are being used for power, how can I sync my iPod with it? And here is another question: There are external hard drives out there that can be powered through a wall outlet. I'm guessing they only need 1 USB port for access, leaving me an open USB port for iPod syncing. Is this correct? Also, I'm not having much luck finding external hard drives that plug into a wall outlet. Does anybody know of any that don't cost an arm and a leg?
