I have to write a paper applying Weber's concept of rationalization to some aspect of modern life. The church growth movement has rightly tried to bring more people into the church, but in doing so it has downplayed important church roles. We now have a generation of people who don't know a thing about theology, but simply attend the church that is most "fun" and appealing. Has the church shot itself in the foot? It this an example of rationalization?
