I'm looking for children's book from 50s - it had stories & poems for each month; a Grandfather Groundhog for each month; I think it was Big Golden Book. Some of the illustrations were by Richard Scarry. Can you help me. One of the poems was Buttercup the Cow had a New Baby Calf. We read from it many times when I was a child, and I've been looking all over for it. |
Poems I have written on faith, love, loss of loved ones, hope etc. |
(2) Rupert Brooke, The Soldier (1914)
If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam,
A body of England's, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.
The Coffee
If I should dunk, think only this of me:
That there is corner of Marco?s Cafe
That is forever England. There shall be
In his toilets, old drunks concealed;
Coffees England makes ?uncared-
Burned once, stewed twice, with grimy foam.
A coffee of England?s that doesn?t care,
Cups unwashed in kitchens, the sugar taken home.
