HOMM4 - Heroes of Might and Magic IV is a turn based strategy game placed in a fantasy style environment using some RPG (role playing game) elements.
It was developed by New World Computing which used to be part of 3DO and then sold to UbiSoft. Heroes 4 was still released under 3DO. The sequel to Heroes 4, Heroes of Might and Magic 5 was released under the name of the new parent company UbiSoft four years after the release of HOMM4.
Heroes 4 is also the first Heroes game that utilizes 3D-Accelleration, following a trend in the industry that believes 3D is better. The graphics is top quality for 2002 standards, the year when the game was released, but Heroes was never about the graphics really, but the game play and strategy.
Other innovations of the fourth installment of the saga are features like the ability of the Heroes themselves to engage in combat (instead of only the units a hero has under his command) and simultaneous retaliation. It also features creatures that are roaming the adventure map and attack you if they believe that they can beat you in combat. Those creatures endangered "transporter heroes", heroes that are used by the player to transport new troops to the "main" hero or heroes.
# Year Title
I read a series more than 10 years ago about a group of kids playing a fantasy role-playing game (similar to Dungeons & Dragons) where the kids get transported to the world they are playing in. One of them is a chemistry major or something like that and they are able to make gunpowder. I can't even remember the name of the author. Can anyone help me please? |
My son plays Toontown and I have found it's quite enjoyable! At first, he wanted me to play it and I thought the game was idiotic. However, now I find it totally relaxing and -while totally ridiculous - it is stress-relieving! |
Since I yearn so much for a second childhood, playing the avatar of a child in an MMORPG could be the closest I can get to one.
Therefore, what online role-playing games give me the option to choose a child-like avatar and play the role of a child? |
