Elementary Go Lessons for Beginners by Sam Sloan
This DVD covers the basic elements of the Game of Go. It starts with the basic principles of the game and the basic rules.
It goes through basic captures, how to kill groups, how to form eyes, the difference between live groups and dead groups, basic ladders, ko rules and basic ko fights. It then provides a sample game on a 9 x 9 board and concludes with how to count points at the end of the game.
The DVD is 80 minutes. The presenter is Sam Sloan.
This DVD is strictly for beginners. Anybody stronger than 17 kyu is too advanced for this DVD.
Go is known as Baduk in Korean and as Weiqi in Chinese.
Please observe that the cover of this DVD translates the name of the game into five languages: Korean, Japanese, Mainland Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English.
I just started learning to play the guitar. I only know three chords right now, and still struggle to switch between them. But I am trying! Anyways, I ordered a Strum It song book, as well as a song book that contains authentic versions of the same songs. I figure that way I can compare them, and maybe one day I will be able to play the songs for real. What is your opinion of the Strum It books? Are they a good idea for beginners? Or will it just make it harder to learn how to really play the songs later on? |
I'm interested in learning how to play the Acoustic Guitar. I don't have one, and after I buy it, I'd like to sign up for lessons as well. Any advice? |
I am looking for books that can be read to elementary school kids that incorporate Chinese culture. Is there a list someplace? Does anyone have any ideas? |
