Interesting Askville Questions:
I have always thought that all classical music was really ancient, like before 1100 AD :), but I recently heard that Haydn's 99th symphony debuted only 213 years ago, in 1794. Had any music been composed before 1700? 1600? Perhaps I should add that the music needs the (semi-)modern staffs.
I've heard and read that classical music is great for brain development for babies. What is it about classical music that is so unique that makes it great for babies? Why can't I play rock or country or jazz or rap?
Can anyone direct me to a listing of all of the music used in the HBO "Classical Baby" series? It's truly one of the class acts of children's animation, and I'd love to start collecting the original pieces of music. Thanks!
