A Question Of Faith: Rob & Claire's Story

The story begins a few weeks after an accident which the reader and characters, Claire, Sam and Doc know nothing more about except for it was a car accident which resulted in a fatality and Rob breaking his legs. So Rob has been in plaster for a few weeks and is sinking into depression when the prologue begins, and the timeline of the main story is basically how life continues for them all over the next couple of months until its time for Rob to lose the plaster. As a therapeutic exercise Rob’s encouraged to look back over his life and record it. So starting from the first chapter the reader is faced with two stories in each chapter, the present, in which Rob and his family are living (where Sam is currently nine years old) and then the events that Rob are recording. The reference to the title in the first part is Rob’s general lack of trust and faith in life as well as spiritually.

Interesting Askville Questions:
I believe this book came out in the mid-nineties and I found it in a Christian book store but I can't for the life of me remember anything but the story. Any help would be appreciated.
I have noticed this a number of times. Most recently I mentioned in a discussion board that, since I am sixty, I would probably die within the next twenty years, and then I put in parentheses "unless the Rapture comes first." The mocking that got would, to the best of my knowledge, never be acceptable regarding any other faith. I do believe we are in the end times and I do believe the Rapture is imminent. This is part of my Christian faith. Would people here dare to mock a Muslim, a Hindu, or member of any other religion for parts of their faith? Why Christianity? I'd really like to hear from the non- and anti-Christians on this one. Thanks.
I'm looking for a really good fiction book to get me back interested in reading!
