Katie Bennett is new in town...and just can’t seem to make friends. But she does have one very angelic best friend -- Faith. The problem is, no one else can see her! When Katie’s mom and aunt suggest that she start the Precious Girls Club, Katie needs a little bit of faith to believe in herself. Will she be able to convince the girls at her school to attend? Maybe if she puts up bright posters...makes pretty friendship bracelets...or lets it slip (oops!) that she has her very own guardian angel...Find out how Katie discovers that a little bit of faith can help her overcome big challenges. A Little Bit of Faith is the first book in a new series that celebrates the special gifts that make each girl precious "in His sight."
Do you ever wonder why you were born in Topeka, Kansas—Omaha, Nebraska—Flagstaff, Arizona—or wherever it is that you came from? Or maybe you wonder why you were born on the very day—at the exact hour, minute and second that you came into the world.
I sure have.
In fact, I wonder why God gave me the parents He did—and the job my Daddy has—and why the winters here are so cold and windy! To be honest, I wonder about a whole bunch of things—especially since we moved to a little town called Shine, Wisconsin, this past summer. I wonder about that stuff all the time . . . or what it would be like if things were different. But they aren’t.
I was super happy to hear that we were going to live in the same town as my favorite aunt—Aunt Ella. She’s my Mom’s sister and the nicest, kindest, most creative person and the best cook I’ve ever met. She always says that she takes “quite a shinin’ ” to me, too.
The truth is that my whole life has been topsy-turvy ever since we moved to Shine. It’s not just my house and neighborhood that changed. I got a brand-new school with new teachers that do things new ways. And the kids in Shine—well, we didn’t take a “shinin’ ” to each other one little bit. Do you
know how terrible that can be for a little girl?

Oprah's Book Club |
I've been thinking of this for a while. What do you think? If you're for or against, please explain your reasoning.
Some ideas I've had are the possibility of having a book club last longer than one month, or begin with a book of short stories. Mainly due to time constraints on some of our community members.
I'm looking forward to reading the answers and discussion board comments. Thank you. |
It seemed like last year she didn't have many, and this year I haven't heard of one. Was there any official announcement, or does anyone know the status of her book club? |
